Dawn McIntyre : Textile Design

Collages: Using multi-layered processes, I build detailed surfaces. Sometimes the layers have actual depth but usually the multi-layered processes may not be physically distinguished in the final product. The layers of color and texture reflect the rich depth and layers of life.

Paper | The tactile nature of paper is very similar to that of cloth. My paper collection contains both hand made, hand dyed and as well as interesting papers I have collected.

Society of Saints - Paper Collage
Wailing Wall - Paper Collage

Silk 1: Japan Series | Silk 2: Beach Series | Silk 3: Path Series | These matted and framed fine art pieces were created using a variety of multi-layered processes. Each piece is created using 2 layers of silk-- usually separated. The top layer is translucent silk so you can see the image below. Images are screen-printed, sometimes dyed, painted and/or discharged. The depth and overlapping images create interesting effects that pull you in for a closer look.
